David Alaba
First use done! David Alaba was half time at Real's 0-0 test against AC Milan in Klagenfurt. How did it go for him?
In purely sporting terms, the first outing in the new team for Alaba was a success. The ÖFB superstar was set up by Real Coach Carlo Ancelotti as a central defender, and his defensive colleagues did not concede a goal against a top opponent.
The appearance in front of 30,000 fans in Klagenfurt's Wörthersee Stadium was also successful because Alaba has only been in team training since last Tuesday, before the Viennese had a corona infection. How did the 45-minute mission go for him personally?
“It was positive, I felt comfortable from the first minute,” said Alaba after the game in the ORF interview. Postscript: “I will need a few more days or weeks until I have fully integrated myself.” In any case, the ex-Bayern player gets along well with his new teammates. “They welcomed me very well. It's a lot of fun working with the guys every day.”
Whether his use as a central defender in the test also gives an indication of his future role at Real? “I assume so. I trained as a central defender,” reported Alaba. But he also assures: “I'll do whatever is asked of me. The coach knows that I can play several positions. I want to help the team with my qualities.”
Has Alaba already arrived in his new home in Madrid privately? “We have very nice weather,” he says of his first impressions. “I haven't seen much else yet. Besides, I'm still looking for a house a little. But now I'll get to know the city better step by step.”
