The world's largest aircraft manufacturer Airbus closed the Corona year 2020 with a profit despite a slump in sales.
Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), by which the Franco-German group measures its success, was 1.71 (2019: 6.95) billion euros, as Airbus announced in Toulouse on Thursday. Corona-related special charges of 1.1 billion euros are already included.
Sales fell by 29 percent to 49.9 billion euros. However, the reduction of at least 15,000 jobs last year tore Airbus down the line again with 1.13 (minus 1.36) billion euros in the red. There should therefore not be a dividend for 2020.
For the current year, CEO Guillaume Faury promised an adjusted EBIT of two billion euros if the world economy does not collapse again. The number of commercial aircraft delivered is expected to remain at the 2020 level (566).
