Air leaks continued on the ISS after being taped with tape

Air leakage continued in the Russian Zvezda module of the International Space Station (ISS), despite sealing the leak with heat-resistant tape. RIA Novosti reports.

As the crew reported in negotiations with the Earth, which is broadcast by NASA, the hatch of the intermediate chamber, in which the crack was recorded, was closed to control the pressure on the night of October 23-24. In 13 hours, the pressure dropped from 732 to 685 millimeters of mercury – the leak rate was four millimeters per hour.

As the agency writes with reference to the Roscosmos corporation, damage to the board does not threaten the cosmonauts. Experts on Earth are currently looking for ways to patch it up forever.

On October 15, Russian cosmonaut Anatoly Ivanishin announced that an air leak had been found. According to him, the crack on board the ISS was discovered using a tea bag.

Initially, it was sealed with plasticine, but on the morning of October 10, cosmonaut Ivan Wagner reported that the pressure in the leaking module compartment had dropped to 634 millimeters of mercury. When the hatch was closed, this figure was 727 millimeters, that is, the plasticine did not help stop the leak.
