According to a report in the Guardian, the clubs are against the Saudis.
After the takeover of Newcastle United by a Saudi consortium, the other English football Premier League clubs took action against the club's sponsorship deals. An almost complete majority of the teams represented in the league voted at an extraordinary meeting on Monday evening for a temporary arrangement that prevents some of the sponsorship contracts planned or already in place by the new Newcastle owners, as the Guardian reported.
This decision is initially only valid for one month, but many clubs should be in favor of a long-term change in the rules that affects all clubs in the league. The Premier League had approved the takeover of Newcastle by a consortium with Saudi participation, as the club, in their view, is not under the control of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia's public investment fund is said to hold 80 percent of the consortium and is now the majority owner of the association. In addition, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is accused of serious human rights violations, is the most influential man in the fund, who is viewed as “separated from the state”, which means that a takeover was permissible from a league's point of view.
