West Ham's 2-0 win against Rapid has an aftermath. As announced by the KURIER, the European Football Association opened proceedings because the two fan groups had clashed in the crowded London stadium.

Mutual provocations of the fan groups positioned close to each other led to several skirmishes. There are consequences because after the 1-0 home team around 30 Rapid “fans” jumped over the barrier and headed for the “Hammers” sector. The security intervened courageously.

Additional penalty

Since there were clashes between Rapid supporters and the local police even after the final whistle, the Hütteldorfer were punished more severely than West Ham.

The UEFA judgment in the first instance: Both clubs have to pay 50,000 pounds and 60,000 euros respectively. There is also a ban on an away European Cup match for Rapid fans.

If this judgment holds after possible objections, the game of Rapid in Zagreb at Dinamo would be planned.

Rapid will appeal

In response to a KURIER request, Rapid confirmed that the UEFA judgment had arrived on Thursday afternoon: “We have been informed of the judgment by UEFA and are now awaiting a written explanation. After that, we can and will appeal.”

After the Viennese objection, it is unclear which game would be affected by a fan ban. With a longer process, it could also be the game in Genk in December.
