The meat market after swine fever and the corona situation have relaxed again
After a rare drop last month, consumer prices in China rose again slightly in December. As the statistics office reported in Beijing on Monday, inflation was 0.2 percent compared to the same month last year.
For the first time in eleven years, consumer prices fell in November. Experts had explained the deflationary development primarily with the decline in pork prices, which in China have a strong share in the consumer price index.
After the outbreak of African swine fever in China, supplies fell sharply last year. Prices soared. But the situation has eased again in recent months, which is why prices have fallen again.
Since the corona crisis in China is also considered largely over and consumption is picking up, consumer prices are picking up speed again after the unusual decline.
