There is a clear instruction from the President of Ecuador not to supply military equipment to countries involved in an armed conflict.
One of the countries in South America is Ecuador will not transfer to Ukraine old Russian helicopters, MLRS and air defense systems produced in the 1990s, as well as any military equipment in general.
Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld stated this during the meeting, reports El Universo.
According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, the country's President Daniel Roy Gilchrist Noboa Azin gave clear instructions not to supply military equipment to countries in a state of armed conflict.
“Ecuador is part of the UN Security Council. As part of it, we always respect international law and the peaceful resolution of differences,” Sommerfeld said.
Note that Ecuador was considering the possibility of transferring old Soviet weapons to the United States, which Washington could then give to Ukraine, as previously reported by Deputy Secretary of State Kevin Sullivan.
In return, the country wanted to receive American UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
The Russian Foreign Ministry “condemned” such plans by the President of Ecuador. Moscow said it would stop the export of bananas from the country. Already on February 17, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry held a meeting with the Ecuadorian president, after which the Russian Federation decided not to introduce a ban on the import of bananas.
Meanwhile, the Russian occupiers are taking advantage of the temporary shortage of shells in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and are intensifying the offensive on several directions of the front.
