The Italian had a tough but always fair duel with Marquez on the last four laps.
The Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia won on Sunday at the Grand Prix of Aragon for the first time in the motorcycle premier class. The Italian fought a fascinating and rock-hard, but always fair duel with Marc Marquez on a Honda on the last four laps. The six-time MotoGP world champion attacked seven times and briefly passed Bagnaia, but each time the 24-year-old from Turin countered in the style of a great champion.

“A dream came true with my first win,” said Bagnaia. “It wasn't easy to stay ahead of Marc. His body isn't one hundred percent fit, but today he was very competitive.” Marquez said he still had to find his best level. “But I enjoyed the fight with 'Pecco' in the last few rounds.”
Success with announcement
Bagnaia is already the eighth different winner in the 13th race of the season. After five podium places, however, it is a success with an announcement. World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) had to be content with eighth place, but remains clearly in the lead. With five races to go, the Frenchman is 53 points ahead of the new runner-up Bagnaia.
The Rossi family experienced a minor debacle. The superstar Valentino Rossi, who retired at the end of the season, finished 19th, his half-brother Luca Marina 20th – out of 20 classifieds.
