Madagascar Police Minister Serge Gelle was able to survive after being caught in a plane crash during a rescue operation in the north-east of the country. It is reported by “BBC”.

Serge Gelle said that he swam to land for 12 hours. “It's too early for me to die,” the minister said on his way to the hospital. His assistant from the security service was with him. Both pilots of the crashed helicopter are still missing.

The African minister was scheduled to visit the shipwreck site by helicopter on Monday 20 December. Off the Madagascar coast in the northeast of the country, 64 people have died and 24 missing passengers are currently being searched for, the Maritime and River Transport Agency said on Wednesday.

On December 2, the Japanese TV channel NHK reported that a dry cargo ship with coal sank in the Sea of Japan, leaving Nakhodka. 17 of the 18 crew members were rescued, one person probably fell overboard and is reported missing. All team members are Vietnamese citizens.
