African American sues McDonald's for $ 10 billion for racism
In the United States, a black businessman has filed a $ 10 billion lawsuit against McDonald's, accusing the corporation of racial discrimination, writes FAN.
Byron Allen appealed to the Los Angeles County Superior Court of Justice after the Chicago branch of the corporation refused to advertise on his television stations.
The businessman pointed out that McDonald's, with more than 40% of its consumers being African American, spent less than $ 5 million in 2019 on advertising in African American-owned media out of a total advertising budget of $ 1.6 billion.
McDonald's, like much of corporate America these days, publicly demonstrates its commitment to diversity and inclusion, but this is nothing more than empty rhetoric, ”the plaintiff said in a statement.
It is noted that this lawsuit came on the same day that McDonald's announced plans to increase by 2024 the cost of advertising in media owned by women, racial and sexual minorities, from 2% to 5%.
It is also reported that earlier Byron Allen had already achieved his goal in a similar case. At his suggestion, General Motors Corporation has promised to increase the number of advertisements placed in publications belonging to “colored” minorities.
In February of this year, it was reported that Warner Bros. started working on the Superman relaunch. It is assumed that the main role in the film will be played by a black actor.
