Ukrainian special operations forces continue to translate excerpts from the captured diary of North Korean soldier Gyong Hong Jong.
In the fifth part, he confessed to stealing from Russian soldiers in the Kursk region, as well as selling the stolen property.
Jong's fifth entry
New excerpts from Gyong Hong Jong's diary detail the theft he committed from the Russians. Although he does not specify what he stole or how much, it is clear that he was caught in the act.
Now Watching
The entries, called “Monthly Life Report,” contain a confession from a soldier:
While working in the barracks, I thought no one was watching me and put Russians' things in my pocket. My guilt is that I did not follow the commander-in-chief's orders and stole something that belonged to another country. This could have serious consequences for our commanders.
In addition to confessing, Jong realized that he had violated the order of the esteemed Commander-in-Chief Kim not to humiliate the honor of the motherland and at the same time demonstrate the strength and courage of the special forces.
The soldier also promised not to engage in the trade of stolen goods anymore and assured that in the future he would “heroically advance in the front lines and destroy enemies”.
What is known from previous entries
This is not the first excerpt from a captured diary that the Special Operations Forces have made public.
In the first part of the notebook, dated December 9, 2024, Private Gyong Hong Jong congratulated his comrade Song Ji Myong on his birthday.
The second part of the diary was devoted to describing the tactics of fighting the Ukrainian drones.
In the third part, Jeong admitted that he, as a soldier of an elite unit, was sent to war in order to atone for his guilt before the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un.
The fourth part testified that North Korea sent its military to support Russia in the war against Ukraine in order to gain combat experience.
