Additional US Air Force fighter jets arrive in Poland

Eight US Air Force F-15 fighter jets join NATO air contingent in Poland

Eight US Air Force F-15 fighter jets arrived in Poland as part of the NATOAirPolicing mission, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on his personal Twitter account.

“Additional American F-15 fighters landed today at the air base in Lask. Eight vehicles added to the number of those that arrived in Poland last week. As part of the NATOAirPolicing mission, we take care of security in the region,” the head of the defense department wrote.

Now the total NATO fighter air contingent in Poland is 23 units. The NATOAirPolicing mission is designed to ensure the security of the airspace of the member states of the alliance. It involves constant combat duty and rotation of the Air Force on the territory of the defensive bloc.

Earlier, the Pentagon announced that the United States would soon send three thousand people from among the additional contingent to Poland. It is noted that the military personnel will be there on a temporary basis. At the same time, about two-thirds of the 1,700 US military of the first group sent to strengthen the defense of Poland have already arrived in the country.

On February 10, 350 British marines arrived in Poland to reinforce NATO's eastern flank. They will be placed in the southeastern part of Poland.
