As experts of the analytical company Imperva found out, the ad blocker, which is still available in the Opera and Chrome extension stores, replaces sites in the search results.
This was reported by the Antimalware portal with a link to the Imperva report. It is noted that the company's specialists have identified an ad blocker called AllBlock, which inserts advertising links into the search results of users. This is done with the aim of replacing legitimate advertising and the user's transition to the target links for AllBlock developers.
The source reports that AllBlock injects adware, malicious code into every new browser tab. And not only adds ads, but substitutes “their” links, which users perceive as necessary to them. According to the source, this is how developers receive money – if a user registers or purchases a product by clicking on fake links, they receive a percentage.
In addition, the source warns that AllBlock is part of a larger cybercriminal network – PBot. And since the extension is still available in the Opera and Chrome stores, the source recommends removing it as soon as possible.
