The CEO of Auchan Retail International, Yves Claude, said this in an interview with the Journal du Dimanche.

“The most important thing for us is to retain our employees and ensure the fulfillment of our main mission – to continue to feed the population of these two countries ( Russia and Ukraine – ed.). We have never had another goal. I am ready to accept public opinion that does not agree with us. It is easy to criticize us, but we are open and act for civil th population,” said Claude.

By the way, in Russia there are more than 230 stores and an online platform. According to Claude, if the company leaves the Russian market, then 30,000 people will be left without work, of which 40% are employees and shareholders.

By the way, the chain has 43 stores in Ukraine. “About 100 Ukrainian employees who left the country are staying with other employees. We even set up a system so that all of them are taken care of, housed and hired elsewhere,” an Auchan spokesman said.

He also added, that the company is helping Ukrainian refugees. According to him, more than 2.3 thousand tons of food, 50 thousand hygiene kits and more than two million euros were provided.

As reported, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on the world to boycott Auchan, Alcampo, Leroy Merlin and Decathlon for refusing to leave the Russian market.
