Access to Wi-Fi for Russian tourists in space

The module for four space tourists will be installed at the new Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS), which will include Wi-Fi. This was announced by the first deputy general designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation “Energia” Vladimir Soloviev, quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to Solovyov, ROSS will consist of five modules.

The first four are the basic, target production, logistics module, as well as a platform module for assembling, launching, receiving and servicing spacecraft. The fifth, commercial module, will accommodate four tourists. The commercial module will be equipped with two large windows and Wi-Fi access.

The configuration of the new station will be similar to the domestic Mir station, flooded in 2001. It is noted that all modules for ROSS can be launched into orbit using Angara-A5 launch vehicles. All five modules will be created on the basis of the scientific and energy module of the International Space Station (ISS) after it is manufactured.

It is also planned that a production module-laboratory will be regularly docked to the new station. It can be launched using the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle.

A space tourist will enter outer space for the first time in history in 2023. This agreement was signed by the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia, which is part of Roscosmos, and the American company Space Adventures Inc., which is engaged in the development of space tourism. In 2023, two tourists will go to the International Space Station (ISS) on the Soyuz MS spacecraft.
