Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the discharge of water from “Fukushima-1”: “This is drinking water” According to Leonid Bolshov, the Japanese will purify their water before the discharge.
Japan decided to start draining radioactive water from the emergency nuclear power plant “Fukushima-1”. About whether it is dangerous for human health, on the air of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda (radiokp.ru), they asked the scientific director of the Institute for the Problems of Safe Development of Nuclear Energy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Leonid Bolshov.
“This water is slightly polluted. So that it was clear: the Japanese have 60 thousand becquerels per liter for dumping, and now they have 120 thousand becquerels per liter in their tanks. Before dumping water, the Japanese promise to purify it up to 1.5 thousand becquerels per liter. This is drinking water according to very strict Japanese standards, ”the scientist explained.
He noted that in Russia the norm is 7.5 thousand becquerels.
“They are going to dump water that is five times cleaner than our drinking water. In general, the attitude towards radiation among the population of many countries, including Japan, especially after Fukushima, is very suspicious of the actions of the authorities, of the actions of atomic scientists. This is simply used by not very conscientious people and companies, for which it is an opportunity to burn down competitors, to show their own importance. This is one of the fronts of the hybrid war that countries are waging with each other, ”said the academician.
