About a hundred Russians did not want to leave Afghanistan and decided to stay in the country. This was stated by the Russian ambassador to Kabul Dmitry Zhirnov, RIA Novosti reports.
“Probably about a hundred people or more will remain. They have not yet voiced their collective desire to leave, ”the ambassador said.
Prior to this, the diplomat announced the end of the evacuation of all Russian citizens who wanted to leave Afghanistan. A total of 360 Russians flew from the Afghan capital. According to Zhirnov, the planes were taking out people who had not been able to leave Afghanistan since June 2021, as the air route between Kabul and Moscow was interrupted “for technical reasons”.
Earlier it became known that four aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Ministry of Defense of Russia with the Russians evacuated from Afghanistan returned to Moscow. Most of the aircraft were carried by Russians of Afghan origin. All planes were attended by teams of military doctors with equipment and medicines.
