Moscow does not want the North Atlantic Alliance to be strong.
The United States of America does not consider information about the Russian attack on NATO as a real threat in the near future.
This was stated by John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council.
“Now we do not see such an impending threat. Of course, Russia is concentrated, not to say closed, in Ukraine. We do not see an immediate threat to NATO, to the eastern flank, we do not see it at the moment,” he said .
Kirby notes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin makes it clear that he does not want the Alliance to be strong and grow larger.
“He also makes it clear that he views the war he is waging in Ukraine as a battle between Russia and the West, or that it is US versus Russia, or even Russia versus NATO. We must take his rhetoric seriously “That's what we're doing. That's why we're consistently strengthening our presence on NATO's eastern flank,” Kirby said.
According to him, US President Joe Biden “sent an additional 25 thousand troops to Europe and did not change this decision for two years.”
As reported, NATO does not predict a new Russian offensive in Ukraine in the spring. The key condition for a significant offensive by the Russian Federation in the Alliance is considered to be mobilization in volumes significantly higher than the current ones, but this process takes time, and it has not yet been launched.
