A unique antiviral agent has been created in Russia. Russian scientists from the Ural Federal University published a corresponding article in the journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry.
According to experts, they were able to develop hybrid compounds that simultaneously have antiviral and antioxidant properties. Scientists said that the substance, which has no direct analogues in the world, will help create a unique drug for the treatment of viruses. The researchers emphasized that in the future it will be possible to significantly facilitate the treatment of viral diseases and prevent the occurrence of their complications.
Earlier, scientists from the Francis Crick Institute discovered a dangerous mutation of the coronavirus, which allows it to more easily penetrate the human body. British experts have found that the spines of the virus can transform into ten different forms, which allows it to protect itself from recognition by antibodies. The researchers said that in laboratory conditions, the spikes of the coronavirus could change in just a minute, although in reality they do it much more slowly.
