A tombstone from the 1st-3rd centuries AD was found in the south of Kazakhstan
In the Shardara district of the Turkestan region in the south of Kazakhstan, a shepherd found an ancient tombstone – a balbal, dating back to the 1st-3rd centuries AD. This was reported by “Interfax” with reference to the press service of the regional akimat.
Local authorities note that the stone was discovered while grazing livestock in the town of Shekertobe, not far from the Shardara reservoir. According to scientists, the ancient monument could have been created in honor of the famous commander of that time, since it depicts a military headdress.
“The found stone sculpture is now in the museum. Documents are being prepared to include it in the state list of monuments of history and culture, ”the akimat said.
According to the staff of the local history museum of the Shardara region, such a tombstone was found in the area for the first time.
“This is a very valuable and rare exhibit. I think that the balbal was made in honor of the Hun warrior, ”head of the museum Nurlan Symailov told Interfax-Kazakhstan.
The scientist noted. that in the area where the valuable relic was found, excavations can be carried out.
Earlier it became known that archaeologists who examined the melting Norwegian Landbrin Glacier, discovered rare artifacts of the Viking Age. Among them: a perfectly preserved wooden box with the remains of a candle.
