A third of Americans did not recognize the legitimate victory of US President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections. This was reported by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with reference to the results of a survey published on the website.
According to the university, 11 percent of respondents called Biden's victory “possibly illegitimate”, another 22 percent considered it “unequivocally illegitimate.” It is noted that among the Republicans who participated in the poll, more than 70 percent of citizens do not recognize the victory of the incumbent head of state, and among Democrats – only four percent.
Political analyst Tatishe Nteta noted that Republican officials, conservative media and followers of former US President Donald Trump continue to question the legitimacy of Biden's victory. “Unsurprisingly, seven out of ten Republicans, Conservatives and Trump voters are skeptical, if not outright distrustful, of the 2020 election results,” he concluded.
In November, it was reported that the approval rating of Biden's policies among Americans had reached a new anti-record and dropped to the lowest value during his entire tenure. According to the latest polls, more than half of Americans disapprove of the work of the current head of state.
