The explosions led to the collapse of the building, causing numerous casualties.

A suicide squad of six people drove a truck with explosives into a military camp in northwestern Pakistan. At least six officers and 25 others were wounded.

This is reported by Reuters.

According to local police officer Kamal Khan, part of the building collapsed as a result of the explosion.

Several militants also opened fire and gunfire continued between them and security forces before three of the attackers were killed, he said. As a result of the shooting, several officers were hospitalized in serious condition.

The attack took place in the town of Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bordering Afghanistan, Khan said. The province is the former stronghold of the militant Pakistani Taliban group, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP.

The militant group Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, or TJP, considered an offshoot of the TTP, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, saying it targeted officers stationed at the police station.

This is the highest death toll in a single attack in recent years, less than two months before the election.

The attack comes amid concerns over the February 8 vote and a surge in militant attacks in the northwest and southwest of the country.

“An attempt to penetrate the post was stopped, which forced the terrorists to ram a car with explosives,” the army statement said.

Interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar condemned the attack,

Several of the injured are currently in critical condition, state rescue spokesman Aizaz Mehmood said.

Previously, it was reported about a large-scale fire in a shopping center in one of the largest cities Pakistan – Karachi. Dozens of people died.
