A substance that fights coronavirus found in green tea
British scientists have discovered a substance in green tea that fights the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, writes RIA FAN.
Experts at Swansea University decided to use a neural network to identify natural compounds that may be useful in the treatment of coronavirus infection, and found such a substance in green tea.
“The compound that our model predicts to be the most potent is gallocatechin, which is present in green tea,” said Dr. Suresh Mohankumar.
Scientists are ahead of additional research that will prove the effectiveness of gallocatechin in clinical trials. But already now, scientists do not exclude the creation of a cure for coronavirus infection based on green tea, specifies Nation News.
The benefits of green tea have been known for a long time. It improves skin health, prevents the development of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Scientists regularly include it on their lists of foods that prolong life.
