NPO Elektromashina JSC (part of the Uralvagonzavod concern of the Rostec state corporation) has developed a special system based on a street lamp that can measure the level of air pollution and distribute Wi-Fi, the company's general director Igor Afanasyev told TASS.
“There are environmental problems in many cities where industrial enterprises pollute the environment in one way or another. For this we have developed a multifunctional lighting module that distributes Wi-Fi, takes readings and determines the composition of the air. The system signals if a certain amount of harmful substances in the air is exceeded. It transmits information to a specialized unit and conducts voice notification. The system can be embedded in any neural network that will develop or is already developed in a particular city, “he said.
According to him, a gas analyzer (air pollution level quality sensor) is built into the lamp, which measures the concentration of pollutants in the ambient air.
In addition, the luminaire has motion and ambient light sensors, with which you can automatically adjust the brightness of the lighting and save energy when needed. “This system is already being installed in Chelyabinsk, one of the busiest industrial cities in Russia. And at the moment these tests have been confirmed by the Ministry of Ecology of the Chelyabinsk Region,” Afanasyev added.
The luminaire transmits all data from the sensors to an intelligent lighting control system, which can provide them to urban control and monitoring systems. Some more useful functions of the luminaire are a repeater-loudspeaker for sound announcements and advertisements, a video camera with the possibility of video identification and face recognition.
