The Prosecutor General's Office of the Federal Republic of Germany accused the German citizen of spying for Russia, incriminating him in collaboration with Russian intelligence. The charges are reported on the agency's website.
The statement states that the man worked for a company that specialized in the inspection and repair of devices for measuring the territory. One of the orders included work with devices installed on a site that is used by the Bundestag. As an employee of the company, the defendant had access to PDF files with drawings of the territory.
It is alleged that the accused decided to transfer information about the property of the Bundestag to the Russian special services between late July and early September 2017. He copied the drawings and handed them over to an employee of the Russian embassy in Berlin, who is allegedly an employee of the GRU.
On February 22, it was reported that a Swedish resident was charged with spying for Russia. According to preliminary data, the 47-year-old citizen allegedly gave some information to an employee of the Russian embassy and received about three thousand dollars for this.
