Brazil's state bank Caixa Economica Federal, a record $ 28.5 million lottery win, has never been won. According to Brazilian law, the entire amount will be donated to the country's Higher Education Funding Fund.
It is known that in the New Year's drawing of the bank's lottery, there were two winners. In accordance with the lottery rules, the jackpot amount was divided equally between them. Each of the parts of the prize was $ 28.5 million, Globo TV reports.
One of the lucky ones living in the city of Aracaju (capital of the state of Sergipe) contacted the lottery organizers shortly after the draw. The second winner never showed up.
According to the rules, the lottery winner has exactly 90 days to claim the prize and this period ended on April 1. The only thing that is known about the winner-loser is that the winning ticket was purchased in the city of São Paulo.
Residents of Brazil in social networks suggested that the person who won the fabulous amount could not contact the bank, as he became a victim of the coronavirus.
However, this is just a hypothesis – the lottery ticket could have simply been lost. By the way, this is not the first time in Brazil that the winnings remain unclaimed – over the past five years, the Higher Education Funding Fund has thus received more than $ 280 million.
