A refugee from Ukraine was hit and killed by a car in Britain: details

In the UK, 40-year-old Tatyana Martynova from Kharkov, who came to the Welsh city of Swansea as a refugee in July 2022, died after being hit by a car.

Tatiana Martynova, who fled the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine with her 13-year-old son Ilya, died after being hit by a car.

South Wales Police say a woman has died after she was hit by a Chevrolet Captiva while walking along the street on Wednesday, January 31.

The people who sheltered Tatiana called her “devoted and diligent in her tender care for (her son) Ilya.” They said she was known in the area as Tanya and was “an amazing woman, multi-lingual, smart, energetic, hard-working.”

They described her as a “steadfast pillar” of the Ukrainian community in Swans, whose “warm and pleasant personality permeated every meeting.”

Her many friends and work colleagues are devastated by her sudden death. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ilya here in Wales and with Tanya's family in Ukraine. Tanya became like a daughter to both of us. We mourn a wonderful young woman. Ukraine has lost one of the best,” said the people with whom Tatiana lived, whose names are not given.

Recall, in the UK, in Edinburgh, a group of unknown persons attacked three children from Ukraine. Police said the attack was racially motivated.
