Psychologist and writer Mikhail Khors named ways to combat addiction to social networks. The conversation with the expert is published by RT.
The specialist told reporters that after the quarantine, which was introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, his clients began to complain that they began to devote more time to instant messengers, social networks and the Internet in general. According to the psychologist, the main symptom of addiction is an uncomfortable state without a gadget.
“If a person puts the phone aside and tries to do some business, but all the time wants to get in there again, this means that he is addicted,” Khors emphasized.
The expert explained that in order to get rid of addiction, it is necessary to recognize the existence of a problem and take the right position in relation to social networks. “To leave the position“ I want to look there ”to the position“ I don’t want – I want to play sports, work, relationships, development, but my addiction pulls me there, ”the psychologist explained and added that in this way it is easier for a person to cope with a need that contradicts his goals.
In addition, Horse advised to keep track of the time spent on the smartphone. So, for example, for this there are special applications that show how long a person has been using a particular program in the gadget.
In addition, the psychologist recommended that users take a piece of paper and divide it into two parts: on the one hand, write what they want, and on the other, on the contrary, what they do not want. “This will make it easier to understand that the constant scrolling of the feed on the social network is a departure from one's goals,” the specialist concluded.
In January, psychologist Dmitry Sinarev listed the signs of painful smartphone addiction. According to him, a person dependent on a gadget will always hold it in his hands or next to him. In addition, it is easier for him to convey his attitude to something using symbols and emoticons.
