A procession in honor of Victory Day was held in New York

Victory Day procession is underway in New York

Russian compatriots in New York marched through Manhattan and Brooklyn with photographs of relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War, TASS reports.

It is noted that because of the coronavirus, many decided to stay at home and take part in the online march of the Immortal Regiment. Due to the pandemic, this year's veterans are not taking part in the event either.

Participants of the march to the music of the war years marched across Manhattan to Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn. There is a memorial to the participants of the Second World War, and the laying of flowers took place there.

Earlier, the poll showed that Russians consider Victory Day the most important holiday. On May 9, a third of Russians will participate in various celebrations dedicated to Victory Day (parades, wreath-laying, etc.). 21% of the respondents said that they are going to watch TV, 16% – that they will watch the festive fireworks.
