A pregnant woman has been admitted to a Peshawar hospital in Pakistan after she pierced her head with a nail. A local “healer” said that this would help her give birth to a boy, Sputnik reports.
It is still unclear who exactly drove a nail into the head of a pregnant resident of the city: the “healer” or she herself on his advice. Family members of the victim said they tried to extract the item on their own, but failed.
According to the clinic's surgeon, Dr. Haider Suleman, the victim was bleeding heavily, the nail had penetrated deep into her skull. The operation to retrieve the object was successful, the woman was sent home already. According to Sputnik, when the police learned about the incident from local media, they began to investigate. While its results are not reported.
The victim told the hospital staff that she was forced to take this step: she had already given birth to three daughters, and her husband threatened to leave her if the fourth child was also a girl.
