The explosion was caused by a bomb that contained 3-4 kilograms of explosives.

The explosion of a powerful bomb was heard at the entrance to the Ottana City Hall , province of Nuoro in Italian region of Sardinia.

It is reported that the explosion occurred on Friday, March 15th. The explosion damaged the building's façade and offices. Windows and doors were broken on the first floor.

However, the building did not suffer any structural damage and was declared fit for use.

Law enforcement officials said the explosion was caused by a bomb that contained 3-4 kilograms of explosives.

The police also said that this “act of intimidation” is not related to the upcoming elections in Sardinia, since they were not planned in Ottana.

Investigators also ruled out that the explosion could have been related to protests against the deployment of renewable energy stations in the region.

Prefect of Nuoro Giancarlo Dionisi convened a meeting of the public safety committee.
