A powerful explosion occurred near the Libyan capital Tripoli, presumably in an ammunition depot. TASS reports.
The explosion is known to have occurred in the Janzur region west of Tripoli. It is known that there is a warehouse of weapons and ammunition of one of the paramilitary groups. At the moment, information about the victims is not reported.
On September 4, it was reported that UN experts suspected Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Turkey of violating the international arms embargo in Libya. The report says that from November 1 to July 31, Russia allegedly sent 339 military cargoes to Libya, the potential total weight of which could reach 17.2 thousand tons.
In Libya, the confrontation continues between the Government of National Accord (GNA), which controls Tripoli and the territories in the west of the country and is supported by Turkey, and the Libyan National Army, which is supported by Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Its unofficial allies are France and the United Arab Emirates – the latter, according to some sources, supplied the army with equipment, including equipment purchased from Russia.
