In the American city of Tacoma, Washington state, a police car rammed a crowd and ran over one of the spectators who had gathered to watch a street racing show. The Daily Mail reports.
As noted, on the evening of Saturday, January 23, the local police received a message that the intersection in one of the parts of the city was blocked by a crowd – about 100 people gathered there to watch the maneuvers demonstrated by street racers. Police officers arrived at the scene and intended to clear the intersection for “the safety of those gathered and people trying to walk down the street.”
However, the crowd surrounded the police car who had come to the call and, according to the police officer who was driving, they tried to break the windows in the car. As the police officer noted, he was worried about his safety, so he decided to get out of the encirclement by crashing into the crowd. According to him, the car “hit one of the men and, possibly, hurt a few more people.”
At the same time, eyewitness footage shows that a police car hit at least five people and ran over one of the men. After that, the victim was taken to a local hospital, the nature and severity of his injuries were not reported. Official information about other victims is also not provided at the moment.
According to the Daily Mail, after the incident, protesters began to gather at the scene.
