Afghan activist Paryani talks about Taliban gunfire at women's protest
Afghan activist and founder of the cultural and social organization Tamana Tamana Zaryab Paryani shared details of the circumstances under which the shelling of a female protest in Kabul by the Taliban terrorist movement ( banned in Russia ) took place. In an interview with “Lenta.ru” she said that the militants demanded that the participants of the action “shut up and go home.”
According to the girl, the militants said that Islamic law prohibits women from taking to the streets unaccompanied by one of their male relatives. “They don't let us do anything, they just want us to stay at home,” Paryani said. She also shared footage from the demo. The footage shows her arguing with one of the Taliban.
The activist said that despite the incident, she will continue to participate in protest actions. “I just want freedom, justice, equality in my country, for our people,” she said.
Paryani previously said that two girls were slightly injured when the Taliban opened fire to disperse the crowd. The gunmen also arrested the journalists covering the demonstration and confiscated their cameras, she said. The protest action took place on December 28 near the capital's hospital. Dozens of girls took to the streets with banners “We are the voice of the hungry people”, “Justice!”, “Long live humanity.”
