Information security specialists have discovered a virus that hacks into a smartphone and allows it to be controlled via Telegram. This is how attackers can steal data.
This was told by specialists from Check Point Software Technologies. They reported that over the past three months, they tracked more than 130 attacks in which hackers controlled the ToxicEye Remote Access Trojan (RAT) via Telegram.
Curiously, attackers can remotely send malicious commands even if Telegram is not installed on the device.
First, the hacker creates an account and a special bot in the messenger. The bot's token then binds to the malware and spreads it through spam mailing. The victim must open a dangerous email attachment. The hacker can then manipulate files, steal data, even from the clipboard, encrypt files, and install ransomware. The malware is controlled by a hacker via Telegram.
