WhatsApp messenger users have been warned of the spread of a new type of scam. Thousands of citizens have already faced the problem.
According to the PhoneArena portal, messages are sent to users in group chats, disguising themselves as an official update of the messenger. It offers to install the pink theme on WhatsApp and follow the installation link. After that, a program is installed on the recipient's smartphone that requires account data.
Experts advise those who have installed malware to uninstall the application, log out of WhatsApp accounts, and change passwords.
Previously, cybersecurity experts discovered a fraudulent scheme used by attackers to steal personal data from Facebook users. A large-scale attack on Facebook Messenger was recorded in 84 countries of the world, including Russia.
