~6 0~p>The new party has become a competitor to the far-right "Alternative for Germany".

В Germany another party may appear.

61-year-old Hans-Georg Maasen announced plans to start his own political force, writes Bild.

Maassen headed the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany (counterintelligence) in 2012-2013. Maasen himself has been in the center-right CDU party for 35 years and at the same time heads the right-wing conservative “Union of Values” (about 4,000 members). He wants to transform this company into a party.

In an interview with BILD, the politician said that he is ready to leave the CDU if the Union of Values supports his plans.

As the head of the sociological institute INSA, Hermann Binkert, said, Maasen’s new party would become a competitor not only for the CDU/CSU bloc, but also for the far-right Alternative for Germany.

Recall that a survey by the INSA Institute showed that during 2023, support for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) fell from 20% to 15%. And the key factor in this fall of the SPD is that only every fifth German has a positive assessment of the work of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who represents the party.
