The International Space Station (ISS) found a new crack in the Russian Zvezda module, which led to an air leak, follows from the negotiations of the astronauts with the Earth. Reported by RIA Novosti.
It is noted that cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov in the intermediate chamber of the Zvezda module applied a second layer of sealant to the second crack, which is located in the area of the thermal regime system pipeline.
On January 21, the Russia 24 TV channel reported that one of the SKV-2 air conditioning systems in the Russian Zvezda module was disconnected on the ISS. Nothing threatens the astronauts, since the station has a backup system SKV-1.
On January 16, the director of the ISS department at NASA headquarters, Robin Gatens, announced that the search for the second air leak in the Russian Zvezda module had been stopped until February, before the arrival of the next Progress spacecraft. A hole in the ISS hull was formed at the end of December 2020. An air leak in the Russian module at the station was recorded in September.
