After incidents with attacks on educational institutions in Kazan and Perm, a video surveillance system with a neural network will be introduced in schools in Yekaterinburg. The city's Department of Education said the system would recognize words with threats of violence, the sounds of broken glass and a distorted shutter, and transmit an alarm to a rapid response team.
Mikhail Ladeyshchikov, Deputy Head of the Department of Education in Yekaterinburg, explained that the neural network would be an analogue of a panic button. The audio system will be loaded with words like “hit”, “blow up”, “shoot”, “bomb”, as well as the sounds of shots, broken glass, distorted shutter, reported “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.
When these words and sounds appear, the system will give a signal to the rapid response team. By connecting to the camera, the security forces will see what is happening at the school and decide to leave.
The system will be launched in pilot mode in two schools in Yekaterinburg. If the project justifies itself, other educational institutions will be connected to the neural network. In the future, they plan to teach the neural network to recognize fights, the presence of dangerous objects in the hands and smoking on the school grounds.
It was decided to introduce close control over the behavior of students after the tragedy in the Kazan gymnasium and at the Perm University.
On the morning of May 11, a 19-year-old graduate of this school, Ilnaz Galyaviev, attacked gymnasium No. 175 in Kazan. The explosion and shooting killed seven children, a teacher and a school employee. 20 people were hospitalized, most of them are minors.
On the morning of September 20, a first-year law student Timur Bekmansurov started shooting at the Perm State National Research University (PSNIU). He came to college with a shotgun. First, the offender opened fire on the cars, then switched to the guards and students.
The attacks have prompted new initiatives to tighten control over computer games and social media. Senator Alexander Bashkin said that some of the games contain a “glorification of violence” that can lead to such incidents.
Also, after the shooting in Kazan, it was decided to accelerate the spread of the global Safe City system in the country. Artificial intelligence video cameras will ensure the safety of Russians and regulate the traffic situation.
