A neural network to study the Baikal ecosystem will appear in Russia
Russian scientists are planning to create a neural network algorithm to analyze the state of the Baikal ecosystems. The system will monitor the state of the water and classify the microorganisms living in it, Izvestia reports.
The authors of the development will be representatives of the Research Institute of Biology of Irkutsk State University, the cloud platform Yandex.Cloud and the Lake Baikal Foundation for the Support of Applied Environmental Research and Development, as well as the creators of artificial intelligence models for studying marine ecosystems MaritimeAI.
Regular analysis will show how the Earth's climate change affects the lake. The algorithm will be trained based on 1000 images of plankton. In the future, the system will be able to independently determine the type of microorganisms.
Earlier, scientists proposed a way to clean the shores of Lake Baikal from waste. It is planned to use tropical flies for this process.
