A mockery of international law, – expert on Putin's visit to Mongolia Melania Golembyovskaya

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has arrived in Mongolia. This country signed the Rome Statute, which obliges it to arrest Putin, but the dictator was greeted with pomp. This was a real mockery of international law.

This opinion was expressed to Channel by political expert, PhD Andrey Gorodnitsky, noting that the situation is threatening and Putin did it for a reason. Ukraine's partners should have taken appropriate decisions.

A mockery of international law

According to the political expert, Putin's visit and his meeting with Mongolia is a real outrage. Ukraine's partners should have imposed sanctions and restricted the countries involved in this action.

You can explain to our partners that another mockery of international law has occurred. I would like to ask them what they will do about it, Gorodnitsky noted.

The situation is quite threatening, since Mongolia has limited ties with the West and it is difficult to impose sanctions on it. Accordingly, the lion's share of Mongolian trade depends on Russia and China, that is, with those countries with which it borders.

He prefers to show such a visit to the countries of the Global South, those who take the neutral side and those who do not want to be friends with the West, that Putin can travel to countries and “nothing will happen to them” for it.

Putin seemed to have gone for some pseudo reason, but we must realize that he did not take this step for no reason. He went specifically to Mongolia, a country that can be frightened and pressured, – the political expert noted.
