A man armed with a samurai sword attacked passers-by in London on April 30, killing a 13-year-old boy and injured four people, including two police officers. He has already been arrested.
BBC writes about this.
At around seven in the morning, police received reports that a car had crashed into a house in Haynote, after which a man armed with a samurai sword attacked passers-by and a police patrol.
“He had a big samurai sword. A huge sword. I saw everything from the bedroom window. And then he went into the passage between the houses, a couple of houses away from me, I ran out, and there the police hit him with a stun gun” , said local resident Chris Bates.
“I just left the office, it was seven in the morning, and I heard screams on the other side of the street. I saw a group of people, five or six people, they were trying to fight him off – he had a sword,” said another eyewitness Manpreet Singh.
According to him, one of those who fought off the man with the sword was wounded. People around called the police and ambulance. Then the police began chasing the attacker.
“Seven or eight police cars drove down that street, and after another ten minutes I saw this guy running towards the station and turning onto the street opposite the station. He tried to jump into one house, but couldn’t , and then they hit him with a stun gun,” said Manpreet Singh.
Police eventually arrested the 36-year-old attacker, and all four wounded were taken to hospital. According to the head of the London police, Stuart Bell, the injuries inflicted do not pose a threat to their lives.
