The 37-year-old resident of China, who was kidnapped and sold to another family as a child, was able to find his own mother thanks to a homemade map drawn from memory. Details of the story are revealed by the South China Morning Post.

Li Jingwei from Yunnan Province was abducted from his home when he was four years old. It is reported that he was taken away and sold to a couple who wanted to have a child, a neighbor of the family. The boy's new home was a city in Henan province, located at a distance of almost two thousand kilometers from the native village of the Chinese.

Lee grew up in a foster home, but he has hazy memories of his mother and the places where he was born. Having matured, the man started looking for his parents, but he could not remember either the name of the village or his real name.

Then Lee drew from memory everything that he remembered about the house – on a homemade map, he depicted the location of houses in the village, the river and hills around. As a result, with the help of police and Internet activists, the man was able to establish that he was born in a village near the city of Zhaotong.

Also, police investigators managed to find a woman who matched the description of Lee, and later a DNA test confirmed that she was his real mother. Separated for more than 30 years, relatives are due to meet on January 1, 2022.

Earlier it was reported that sisters found each other in the United States, who were separated 70 years ago. A DNA test helped the women meet.
