Serbia is developing a light tank on the chassis of the Soviet 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled guns. Pictures of the promising car appeared on the MyCity Military forum. It is believed that the car is being developed by DLS Specijalni sistemi doo Beograd.
Pictures of the car were published back in May, but attention was paid to the development only now. The characteristics of the promising tank are unknown, but its appearance makes it possible to judge the vehicle on which it is based. So, in the case the Soviet self-propelled howitzer 2S1 “Carnation” is guessed. The chassis of the 2S1 is based on the modified chassis of the MT-LB tractor. “Carnation” can swim, climb up to 35 degrees, and reach speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour on the highway.
In the Serbian development, the place of the tower with the howitzer was taken by a new combat module. Judging by the characteristic muzzle brake, the modernized Soviet MT-12 anti-tank gun of 100 mm caliber became the main weapon of the tank. This weapon can use guided missile shots.
The mass of the ACS 2S1 is 15.7 tons, which makes it possible to classify the tank on its base as a light vehicle. The anti-tank gun will allow a promising vehicle to fight against tanks and lightly armored vehicles of the enemy.
In July, Russia began sea trials of the Sprut-SDM1 light amphibious tank. In the Black Sea, the military checked the navigability of the tank.
