A group of detained Russian tourists released in Chad
The Russian travelers detained in Chad have been released, now the tourists are in a hotel in the capital of the republic, they feel good and move freely. RIA Novosti was informed about this by Russia's Charge d'Affaires in Chad Sergey Kramarenko.
According to him, the Russian embassy had received a note of excuse from the diplomatic department of the republic the day before in connection with the detention of Russian citizens.
“Yesterday we received an apologetic note from the Chadian Foreign Ministry that they a little, let's say, exceeded their capabilities and simply took tourists out of a very dangerous zone in the north of the country,” he said.
It is expected that after the return of the documents, the tourists will return to their homeland. The authorities have promised to return to them the previously confiscated personal belongings, at the moment the issue of transporting the cars of the Russians, who are still in the detention zone, is being resolved.
On June 15, a group of travelers from Russia, including the famous video blogger Alexey Kamerzanov, was detained by local law enforcement officers, who first brought them to the department, and then to the La Residence Hotel N Djamena without documents and personal belongings.
The tourists were in Africa as part of an expedition, on May 25 they crossed the border into Chad, meeting with a local guide. Three days later, they left for a three-week trip to Chad along a route previously agreed with the local Ministry of Internal Affairs, which included the north of the country. So, having overcome about 80% of the route, the team stopped for the night in the city of Faya-Larjo, where they were caught by people in military and police uniforms.
