In the UK, a four-year-old girl on the beach accidentally found a ten-centimeter footprint of a dinosaur, writes BBC News.
Lily Wilder discovered the unusual find in early January while walking with her father. He captured the footprint of a prehistoric animal, and then showed the picture to his wife. Lily's mom called the shot “amazing” and the family decided to turn to experts.
National Museum of Wales paleontology curator Cindy Howells described the trail as “the finest specimen ever found on this beach.” It was left about 220 million years ago by a dinosaur 75 centimeters high.
Scientists believe it was a “slender animal”. The dinosaur walked on two hind legs and actively hunted other small animals and insects. The experts emphasized that the trail was in excellent condition. This will allow scientists to study in more detail how the legs of dinosaurs work.
Earlier, traces of an ancient dinosaur were found in Kislovodsk: they were preserved on a piece of rock. According to the research, the prints belonged to the herbivorous iguanodon.
