In Virginia, fisherman Sean Kennedy caught a giant ancient fish and set a new state record. This was reported by the UPI news agency.

On Tuesday, September 7, Kennedy was fishing in the Pamunki River when he was hooked on a long-snout carapace or a long-nosed carapace pike. After measurements, it turned out that the length of the fish was 137.16 centimeters, and the weight was 10.4 kilograms.

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources said the man broke the 2019 record set by fisherman Blake Deal. Deal caught a 9.8 kg long-snout carapace in Lake Gaston.

Long-snouted carapace or long-nosed carapace pike is one of the most ancient fish species. They live in the waters of North America. They can reach almost two meters in length and weigh more than 20 kilograms.

Earlier it was reported that the Department of Natural Resources of the US state of Minnesota announced a new record for pike fishing. The length of the fish was 117.48 centimeters and surpassed the previous state record.
