A family living in south Auckland made a macabre discovery after how I unpacked the purchased things at home.
The New Zealand Police launched an investigation in connection with the remains of a person found in an old suitcase. The family purchased the suitcase at an auction held by a warehouse.
This is reported by the BBC.
It is known that the family went to a local warehouse company and purchased a trailer of goods from them, among which were old suitcases. The contents of the suitcase were not discovered until after it was unpacked at home, investigator Tofilau Faamanuya Vaaelua said.
Several of the family's neighbors also said they smelled a “disgusting smell” that was coming from the house before the police arrived.
One of the neighbors, who used to work at the crematorium, instantly recognized the smell.
“I immediately knew what it was and wondered where it could be from?” – said the man.
Police representatives said that their priority is “to find out the identity of the deceased in order to establish all the circumstances of this case.”
Earlier it became known that US police discovered the remains of a long-dead man in the refrigerator of a private apartment in Tooele, Utah.
