The new edition of the Camaleonda sofa by design icon Mario Bellini promises a lot of color and unlimited possibilities

“Of all the objects I have designed, Camaleonda is perhaps the best in terms of the feeling of freedom. There are an infinite number of possible configurations. ”This is how designer Mario Bellini describes his renewed version of the classic sofa.

And thereby addresses the most fundamental characteristic of Camaleonda: its almost infinite versatility. The individual modules invite you to play and you can not only change your preferences, but also the dynamics of a room.

The sofa-bed landscape, the individual elements of which are reminiscent of inflatable cubes, was made exclusively from sustainable materials. The seat, backrest, armrests and base are made of wooden panels, the innovative upholstery covers are made of recycled PET, the same material that plastic water bottles are made of.

Camaleonda does not lose any of its comfort. Mario Bellini, as a designer, a man without rough edges, is known for combining design and architecture in his work. The name is also Bellini's own creation, albeit not entirely new: “Camaleonda is a name that I invented in 1970 by mixing two words.

The first is the name of an extraordinary animal, the chameleon (Camaleonte in Italian) that can adapt to its surroundings, and the word 'Onda', wave, which indicates the curvature of the sea and the desert. Both words describe the form and function of this sofa. ”From 12,000 euros, available in specialist shops.
