In Bulgaria, a woman infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus gave birth to a child whose experts confirmed the presence of antibodies to the pathogen. This is reported by the Bulgarian National Radio.
It is noted that a 28-year-old pregnant woman from the city of Pazardzhik was admitted to the hospital with malaise, fever and cough. She underwent a cesarean section, since the coronavirus infection caused pathological changes in the placenta, and also affected the growth of the fetus. The child survived and is in good condition, and the test revealed the presence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, which indicates the possible contact of the fetus with the virus.
Earlier, scientists from the University of London showed that neutralizing antibodies are present in patients' bodies at 16-18 weeks after infection with coronavirus, which indicates long-term immunity against infection. According to other experts, the immunity of COVID-19 patients can remain stable for at least eight months.
